A boundary is the living edge of what a person is available for, under what conditions and at what pace.
Boundaries can be spoken, acted, sensed, negotiated or discovered after the moment has passed. In this work, they are not treated only as firm sentences delivered with perfect confidence. The body may signal the boundary before language arrives.
A boundary protects contact when it allows someone to remain present without overriding themselves.
Different from: withdrawal. Distance can be a boundary, but not every boundary requires disconnection.
