A source should make a claim clearer—and usually smaller

Research belongs here because readers deserve to know what sits beneath the language.

Not as decoration. Not as a row of impressive names. Not as a way to make one study carry the weight of an entire method.

A good source tells us what was actually examined, with whom, under what conditions and how far the finding can responsibly travel.

Five different relationships

The foundation pages use five labels so that unlike things do not blur together.

In the books

The term, practice or model appears explicitly in one or more of the nine journeys.

Documented influence

The creator identifies a thinker, tradition or field as part of the work’s formation. Influence is not identical with adopting a complete system.

Research context

Evidence illuminates a component such as imagery, interoception, writing, attention, memory or reward.

Interpretive parallel

An idea helps readers think alongside the method without being claimed as its origin or proof.

Sensual Hero’s Journey synthesis

The term, arrangement or practice belongs to this authored body of work.

Component evidence is not method evidence

Mental imagery is researched. That does not validate every symbolic interpretation.

Expressive writing has been studied. That does not prove the effect of a seven-day journey combining writing with audio, mapping and imaginal practice.

Interoception is an established field. That does not make every body sensation accurate or every body-based exercise beneficial.

Research on a component can illuminate that component. Evidence for the complete Sensual Hero’s Journey would require direct study of the complete method.

What “science-informed” means here

It means scientific knowledge can correct the language.

A metaphor remains a metaphor. A theory is named as a theory. Anatomy is not borrowed to make a poetic phrase literal. A disputed model keeps its dispute. A result from a laboratory task is not quietly turned into a promise about autobiographical life.

Science-informed does not mean science-painted.

How a source is chosen

Primary research and high-quality reviews are preferred for scientific claims. Foundational books and official scholarly editions are used for historical and philosophical sources.

Each reference should support the sentence it is attached to. Population, design and relevant limitations stay visible. Where a finding has failed to replicate or a field contains serious disagreement, that belongs in the account.

Fame is not a method of verification.

Original language stays traceable

The Time Loop, Present Bridge, Almost, Crumb-Chase Circuit, The Invoice, body as signal–mind as interpretation–heart as meaning, State Beneath the Symbol and Sensorial Scenecraft are presented as terms or frameworks from The Sensual Hero’s Journey.

They may sit beside relevant scholarship. They should not be falsely attributed to a researcher, and research should not be made to look as though it has already tested them.

Clear authorship serves readers, scholars and the work itself.

Research Notes go narrower

Foundation pages answer the large questions.

Research Notes take one claim at a time:

  • Is attachment better understood as a type or a dimension?
  • What does interoceptive accuracy actually measure?
  • What can slow breathing change?
  • When does a retrieved memory become modifiable?
  • How are wanting and liking different?
  • What is established—and disputed—about Polyvagal Theory?

This structure lets readers follow a question from plain language to the source without forcing every page to become a literature review.

Corrections are part of authority

Knowledge changes. A better study appears. A theory loses support. A historical attribution turns out to be too neat.

Corrections should be dated and made visibly enough that a careful reader can understand what changed.

Authority is not the performance of never having been wrong. It is the practice of becoming more exact when better information arrives.

For readers, practitioners, journalists and researchers

Readers can use the foundation pages to understand the thought beneath a practice.

Practitioners can examine the limits before recommending a journey.

Journalists can distinguish authored language from borrowed concepts.

Researchers can identify questions that are genuinely open rather than being handed a finished claim disguised as an invitation.

Everyone should be able to tell where the books end, where a field begins and where this site is offering interpretation.

The current evidence position

The Sensual Hero’s Journey is an authored educational and experiential method informed by multiple philosophical, psychological and scientific conversations.

Its individual components have different levels and kinds of support. The complete nine-book method has not yet been evaluated as one clinical intervention.

That statement belongs on the Research & Sources page, where a serious reader expects it—not as nervous small print interrupting the welcome on every page.
