Source status: book-authored SHJ term, developed explicitly in Living on Love Crumbs and I Want It All.
The Hinge is the small moment before a familiar move completes itself: before the automatic yes, the extra work, the defensive explanation, the reach for proof or the disappearance into performance.
In Sensorial Scenecraft, a simple sensory handle can be brought to this moment so one believable movement becomes available in ordinary life.
Different from: switch point. The terms are close. The switch point in All of Me maps the moment an inner system begins arranging itself in the familiar order. The Hinge, used in Living on Love Crumbs and I Want It All, emphasises the small opening where a familiar pattern can continue or meet one different, concrete action.
