Memory Reconsolidation

Source status: research term with established experimental findings and important boundary, replication and translation questions.

Memory reconsolidation refers to conditions under which a reactivated memory may become susceptible to modification before being stored again.

Retrieval alone does not guarantee reconsolidation. A mismatch, insight or new experience cannot be assumed to have rewritten a memory, and evidence for a component process is not evidence that a self-guided journey treats trauma.

Different from: the Present Bridge. Reconsolidation is a scientific account tested under specific conditions. The Present Bridge is an SHJ practice for including current evidence and one less-automatic response.
