Consent

Consent is a freely given, specific and changeable agreement to what is happening.

It belongs to the person giving it and must remain available for revision. Bodily sensation can help someone notice comfort, uncertainty, desire or withdrawal, but no sensation replaces clear consent and no outside observer gets to interpret a body on someone else’s behalf.

In this work, consent includes pace: yes, no, more, less, slower, stop and not yet.

Different from: compliance. Compliance follows a demand, expectation or pressure. Consent requires real room to choose.
