Source status: influential family of theoretical and computational models; not a single settled account of mind or brain.
Predictive-processing approaches examine how prior expectations and incoming information interact in perception, attention and action.
They can offer context for why an old expectation makes some cues easy to notice and others easy to miss. They do not mean that people only see what they believe, that every reaction is a prediction error or that noticing a pattern automatically “rewires” a model.
Different from: interpretation. Interpretation is the meaning a person gives information in lived experience. Predictive processing is a technical research framework used to model aspects of inference and perception.
