Attunement

Source status: relational term used explicitly in the books and studied through several psychological traditions.

Attunement is responsive attention to another person’s actual state, communication and pace.

It does not require perfect mind-reading or permanent agreement. A response can miss and then become more attuned through listening, checking, repair and allowing what is learned to change what happens next.

Different from: attention. Attention turns towards someone. Attunement attempts to meet what is there.
