Source status: editorial bridge. “Contact receipt” appears in the analyst mechanism map; it is not presented as a formal research term or fixed book-authored construct.
The contact after-effect is what remains after an exchange: steadiness, openness, warmth, clarity, urgency, confusion, collapse, hunger or a mixture that takes time to understand.
It widens the evidence beyond the brightest moment. A generous message may be real, and the hours of scanning that follow may also be real. Neither single moment decides the whole relationship.
Different from: The After. The After is the broader SHJ term for what remains after pleasure or intensity. Contact after-effect applies that question specifically to relational exchange.
