Source status: book-authored SHJ term in Pleasure Is My Medicine.
The Invoice is the condition or cost attached to pleasure: now be grateful, stay available, earn it, deserve it, repeat it or become the person who always feels this way.
It may be stated by another person or carried inwardly before anyone asks. Naming The Invoice helps a reader notice why an experience can feel pleasurable and difficult to receive at the same time.
Different from: material cost. The Invoice names the obligation attached to receiving, not simply the money, time or effort an experience requires.
