Reflective Writing

Source status: method practice with a related, but not identical, research literature on expressive and reflective writing.

Reflective writing uses words to notice, organise and question experience rather than merely record events.

In the journeys, repeated prompts make changes in sensation, meaning and attention easier to see across seven days. Research on expressive writing can offer context for some forms of written reflection, but results vary by person, prompt, timing and outcome. Writing is not automatically therapeutic.

Different from: a polished account. Reflective writing may be fragmentary, contradictory or unfinished. Its purpose here is contact, not performance.
