The language of the work

Some experiences remain vague because the available word is too large.

“Anxiety” may contain a body signal, an old prediction, a current need, a remembered room and a story about what all of it means. “Desire” may point to a person, a symbol, a state or an imagined audience. “Safety” may be a fact, a sensation, a history or a hope.

The glossary does not exist to make ordinary life sound specialised. It gives the reader smaller, cleaner handles.

How to use it

Begin with the word that brought you here. Each page defines the term in plain language, shows how it is used in The Sensual Hero’s Journey, separates it from nearby concepts and links to the journeys where it becomes especially important.

The definitions are not diagnoses. They are invitations to greater precision.

Language should return you to life

A useful term does not end the inquiry. It helps you notice more accurately when the experience arrives again.

If the definition becomes another identity to defend, put it down. The word is a door, not a room you must live in forever.
